Take time away from the day-to-day mundane to experience something that photos cannot possibly capture: WONDER. This is not your run-of-the-mill vacation, this is a life changing adventure. It is so easy to lose sight of the magnificence and beauty both within you and around you, especially in the winter, but Nepal is so rich in culture and nature, just the antidote needed to jolt you back to life. Spending every day maneuvering the alleys, streets and pathways, you will see, taste and experience such richness that your perspective will never be quite the same. Join me for three weeks in the Himalayas soaking up some of the most amazing energy in the highest land in the world while putting your physical strength and endurance to the test! This trip is a life changing opportunity to experience the very best of the world, but also of yourself, in the company of some other incredible women.
The trip starts in Kathmandu, exploring a culture steeped in history and spirituality, touring some of the religious relics, temples and stupas of both Buddhist and Hindu traditions. Yoga and meditation will be offered each day to help assimilate the daily experiences and unwind from the intensity of a bustling city- a fitting addition in the region where the Yogic tradition began over 5,000 years ago. Together, we will set the tone in Kathmandu- Chelsea will hold space for personal questions and discussion. What is your intention? What is your current relationship with Power? Joy? and Inspiration? How do you define them and how do you use them? These questions and themes will be woven into our daily journey, we will periodically check in during free afternoons of our trekking to check in with each other's experience and how we are continuously shaping and reshaping our perspectives of ourselves, our power and our lives.
After Kathmandu we journey high into the Himalayas to the Khumbu region to bear witness to the greatest mountains on earth. This land is full of magic- surrounded by idyllic mountains and countryside, free from technology and the intensity of modern society clarity of mind and spirit quickly set in, reconnecting with our soulful side and tapping into strength and power never even imagined. Each day's trek will be challenging but far from impossible, giving us the opportunity to prove to ourselves how incredibly strong and capable we are. Spending our days in the presence of the Earth's behemoths will both humble and inspire, connecting us back to the roots of who we are and what makes us tick.
Nepal is possibly the most incredible country I have ever been to and this trip is a once in a lifetime, change your perspective forever, sort of experience! The streets of Kathmandu are crowded and loud, yet full of beauty, kindness and spirituality. Hidden between buildings are centuries-old Hindu temples and Buddhist stupas where people stop and pray while on their way to work. When you look beyond the surface tensions of modern poverty you see people and a culture rich with life, love and abundance. It provides a profound check on Western ideals that there is more to success and prosperity than meets the eye. This spirituality threads through the entire country and into the Himalayas, the heart and soul of Nepal. There is an otherworldliness to this place that can't be sufficiently described, only felt. The mountains fill you with a constant state of awe, it's easy to understand why such powerful religions stemmed from this range, how could you not believe in a higher power when you are surrounded by the magnitude of the highest lands in the world?
The Guide Company:
Himalayan Hikers Expedition is a locally owned and operated expedition company based out of Kathmandu. Unlike most mainstream operating companies that are corporate and based overseas, HHE is owned and operated by guides who are native to the land giving them greater experience but also greater connection to and respect of the land, the culture, the people. They have close ties in the communities of the mountains and make great effort to help those in the community receive opportunities for education and work through non-profits organizations and job opportunities. All of the guides have between 20 or more years of experience trekking and climbing and have completed (and now teach) extensive first aid and other safety training courses. The level of knowledge, skill and professionalism is incredible with these guys!
Our guide will be Deven Gurung who has been leading trips since 1998. He has a wonderful personality that is both kind and humorous, his level of compassion will make you feel safe and comfortable throughout the trip. He is also an amazing photographer and will ensure that you get some incredible pictures!
